Cut Copy in Malmoe
The venue Babel was packed when Cut Copy entered the stage around midnight. With the instrumental tune “Visions” from their latest album “In Ghost Colours“ acting as an intro they leaped right into a set that combined loud indie rock guitar riffs with disco beats and cool analog synth sounds.
You could tell they’ve done some extensive touring for some years since everything was so well-arranged and well-played. I was especially very impressed with the drummer who played so tight it almost made you wonder if he was just a quantized MIDI Android and not a human being.
The highlight of the evening was “Unforgettable Season“ with its bittersweet pop melody and a pumping bass riff. They lost a little focus at the end of the show but being saturday night and all, they crowd really went wild when they played “Saturday” from their debut album “Bright Like Neon Love“. Crowdpleasing yes, but it worked.
