Fusignano
I admit that Fuji Nano it would had been a more exotic name for the location where the gig took place. No chance. The little town was in Italy and it was named Fusignano indeed. Once again. Lost in the mist of the northern country plains. No one on the road with the exception of few crazy fools still aimed for some form of genuine love toward a certain kind of music. In that case: indie pop.
Fusignano hosted a seires of concerts gathering artists and musicians under the brand of “Colla+eral”, id est quite interesting collaborations between different kind of genders and form of expressions.
It was time for “Le Man Avec Les Lunettes“ and “Comaneci”, two interesting Italian Indie Pop Bands.
“Comaneci” is a little trio trying to bring down the power of melodies and pop music bringing the essence of its gist into tree simple elements: guitar, viola and voice. Francesa is the main star of the trio. Her voice is very expressive and quite similar to chanteuse à-la-Emiliana Torrini. She gives back in warm power and self-confidence what she lacks in fantasy and uniqueness. Not a bad vocalist, after all.
“Le Man Avec Les Lunettes” has just released theier second album. This work was really important for the two lead singers from Brescia. It marked the distance between the previous “?” for being thought and worked out as an album with a personality of its own and not just a collection of singles and b-sides. Moreover the band mutated from being basically an elettro duo to a big pop band such as “Belle & Sebastian” or “Architecture in Helsinki”, with accordions, arcs, electrig guitars, real drums and bass.
“Plaska Plaska Bombelibom” – that’s the name of the album – has already seen a collaboration with Francesca from “Comaneci” and “Amycanbe” in the fourth track “I can’t get anything”. That was the sweetest excuse to have the guys playing together on the stage.
The double feature night also had the presence of the drummer and the bass player of “Le Man Avec Les Lunettes” on two songs of Comaneci (NB: The bass player also plays on “Annie Hall”, another nice band from the same town)
I talked to much. Here’s some pictures from that “collateral night”. The last clip was filmed by Fabio Benni, the singer from LMALL. Hope he had fun with my camera.
