VeNice
I had a little chat with Alessandro Fagioli, from the Italian indie band Stones of Venice. We use to waste dozen of words on the Universe, music and all strange sorts of little things flowing around and inbetween. Obviously on Facebook! That’s the report of a friendly chat between me, myself and Fagio (oooh yes, that’s his nickname). Enjoy
Alessandro :I’m here. Unfortunately i’m reharsing with the band in a 10 minutes time
Mark: Guess it’s the worst time of ever to do a double interview. I’m taking some painkillers for a very bad headache.
Alessandro: Damn! you’d better go and rest then
Mark: AHAHA! But I’ve got a quick interview to do! Today I’m talking with Alessandro Fagioli, the singer from Stone of Venice. Do you know that band?
Alessandro: You mean that shitty band?
Mark:Naaa… Some they say that they are a late response to Oasis. Are Oasis still popular on nowaday youth?
Alessandro: May the Lord keep them from being that late response…
Mark:AHAH!
Alessandro: They got to play their own brand new music.
Mark: What did you had in mind when you joined that band? (not Oasis)
Alessandro: There are many thing troubling a youngster’s mind, but i got over the 90′s.
Mark: Seriously. How Stones of Venice came to life?
Alessandro: It was raining the day when Andre asked me if i wanted to join a band. I couldn’t play any instrument at the time nor sing, but i accepted. Two days later we were reharsing in his living room with my brand new guitar.
Mark:Cool! I always knew Andrea is a visionary mad person…
Alessandro: The members of the band have changed through the years..me,andre and pierni are the core of the band, the only ones who have stayed since the beginning. Then Carlotta and Valentina were asked to join us..we got to know them for 2 reasons: 1)Carlotta was Andre’s ex gf and 2)she used with vale, to play guitar in a band called Hysteria and Andre was the drummer there. Then that band split and those pretty girls went blank. Luckily we were there, open-armed and with a shiny smile upon our faces.
Mark: Andrea a drummer? Unbelievable!Don’t know. Seems like there’s a strange force surrounding and keeping together your band.
Alessandro: Yeah but the project failed because of hime. AHAH!
Mark:LOL! If I shoud pick some words and adjective to describe your band I would use: self-focus, romanticism, actidude, attention. Do you fit in it? (frienship is the other word)
Alessandro: Things just flow. if that’s what you get then it means that it’s what really is…
Mark: Isn’t that a RollingStone quote?
Alessandro: I like those guys but it’s not my use to learns phrases by heart.
Mark:I see. Yesterday we were talking about inspiration. How do you relate with Muses (not the band)
Alessandro: My mind always focuses on music, it takes me ages before i fall asleep at night. But i prefer to wait the bell ring. I don’t need to force music to come out, it just calls and i pick up the phone, it’ automatic
Mark: Isn’t that expansive? For her I mean…
Alessandro: You mean the music?
Mark: yay
Alessandro: She comes and goes…
Mark: Bad lover!
Alessandro: That’s exactly how girls behave with me…
Mark: Oasis bros, use to say that Italian dosen’t have time to write good music because our weather and food are too good to keep us in the dark of our rooms and garages. Is it?
Alessandro: As far as i’m concerned they’re wrong. And i think we’re a good demonstration of how they’re wrong *laughs*. Also Italy has its cold and dark winters…
Mark: Expecialy in Brescia!
Alessandro: We also have gloomy garages and we got nothing to laugh about all the time as they believe we do.
Mark:YOU got a garage. I have a room an tolls to pay to the rehearsals room! Isn’t music too expansive? Maybe is more simple to become an expert playstation player, or an obscure writer…
Alessandro: Oh and the garage where we reharse looks exactly like theBritain’s ones
Mark: Because of the flag
Alessandro: You’re right Mark. But I’ve come up to realize that the easiest thing to do is also the most unreliable one.
Mark:THAT’S EXACTLY WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT! That’s one of the reason y I like your band. You’re a bunch of fucking dreamers!
Alessandro: I like to know that music knows where to take me when i have no idea. And the places it took me in were all beautiful.
Mark:Dealing with dreamers… what about Nicola and his side projects?
Alessandro: I have no idea of what he is doing. I don’t see him that much, apart from the garage of course. But i respect him and everything he does will always be supported. I’m sorry Mark… But i really gotta go…
Mark: Don’t worrie. My head is about to explode anyway….
