At Regular Intervals We Experience Rapture
Scotland has the ability to parent artists that propel a certain aura and hegemony like no other place. The only other land I can think of immediately that levels this comparison is Iceland. It is an awe-inspiring wall of sound and it is one that you have to submerge the whole of your head. It is like sliding down the back of the bath after a particularly trying day.
Intervals are a highly underrated act; they are slowly starting to immerge out of the West of Scotland as something of an untapped dawn. Their riffs are as impressive as anything I have heard, not only this but when a female drummer comes to light as holding her own amongst ‘men’ you cannot help but be impressed.
I have seen Intervals live once and it left me speechless, they supported the incredible Pilotlight and they blew us away. It is no secret that possibly my favourite act in the world today is Mogwai; Intervals share that same vigorous passion for sound that Mogwai do. It is that aforementioned wall of sound, tracks like ‘Wipe Your Tapes’ are nothing short of Godly, it makes your emotions surface quicker than the touch of another human.

Intervals
A dear friend of mine said this week that in the world you have a 75%: 25% ratio. 75% of the world abides by the rules, lives the conventional life and does not question it. You then have the 25% who go against the grain; they question everything, processes, and life. They are irregular and they somehow balance society. Intervals do this with their music, their deviation and distortion somehow balances everything else, so much so that they make more sense to me than many things.
Intervals play The Oran Mor, Glasgow February 18th. Please go and experience the 25% that you so desperately need to balance your life out.
