Most Loved Indie Girls Top 10
“Why should I have spring fever, when it isnt even spring?”
Ok. I’m against things like that. I mean, looking for pin-ups to entratain the visitors of a site of mine: it’s just not my syle. But – hey – spring is coming, and I personally can’t stand the apex of winter season, when cold reaches its top and I just can’t get rid of my metereopathinc insofference for the grey and gloomy February skies. What’s all this pathetic introduction all about?

Let the Eardrums roll!
In my last interview with Princess Niko I was asking him if he knew a band from New Zeland/Australia called “The Zebras”. His alter ego is kind obsessed with that animal, and Zebras seems to be one of my favourite bands since a year or so. Can’t you imagine how Mark Zonda discovered “The Zebras”? No safari at all! It was thanks to a Eardrums Music Compilation. What Eardrums exactly is? And what exactly isn’t? Let’s ask to the man behind the virtual curtains. (more…)

Only Niko Knows
Another little star from Bergen’ Sky. Falling in love with Princess Niko‘ songs was preatty easy. Smart and intimate lyrics on evocative and elaborate melodies, with istant classics such as “Lost becomes forever“, “Polycotton Drama” and “The Broken Paper-Heart Club”, I started to loop each of his tunes trying to keep on catching the gist of his tiny intimate word. Quite a while after having seen him playing bass for “Soda Fountain Rag” in Italy, here it is back againg for a little interview.

Summer Days Will Come
India is gonna be the final line for… indie music! Along nowelty like Astrolab (my dreampop-hereoes)and Jellybelly, here it is another great lamost on the sea of c86 revival: Sunny Summer Day. Just like the old Sarah Records Band. Dicky Hermansah, Teguh Indraputra, Deny gerdiana and Ajie are four guys from Bandung, west of Java (I always dreamt to say “West of Java” since I first read the “Travelling Wilburys Vol.1″ booklet). Norwegian Good
The first time I heard of “Soda Fountain Rag” was probably from some niche indie-zine. One day I was talking of recent music discoveries with a friend of mine (Alessandro from Le Man Avec Le Lunettes) when he told me:”Soda Fountain Rag is a very good one! I’m in love with her song recently. Watch out ’cause she’s gonna play in your town”.

First We Take Manhattan
First We Take Manhattan hail from Glasgow and create a sound as soothing as a Pacific sunset.
Al Carlisle and Amanda (Panda) combine in a way that is choral unison. These two artists combine to create something requisite. Acoustic, waterfalls of guitars and sweeping vocal harmonies that are so intricate in places you are taken initially to a place where you think you can predict the rest of a song. Then, suddenly you are forced to a higher stratum of sonority. (more…)

Pretend We’re Illuminoids
… and a certain point when time met space in a squashed orange juiced on a scrambled egg, the so easy and yet queasy indie music – so tired of covers and tribute, having played “There’s a light that never goes out” and “Disco 2000″ for the 2000th time – discovered the so called “Mesh up” era, where classics and hits collided together providing the songs new thrills and highlights. Illuminoids are one of the most representative heros of that scene. We had a little chat with them.

His name is Jonas
Ever wondered what would have happened to Weezer if they were born on Gothenbug? They’d probably got along with coloured bubbles, arpeggios and trumpets, and they would have changed their name in “The Medalist”. Yet Another Cloudberry Production (029), emo-lyrics-oriented attitude, half-lowed Riveresque voice of Jonas Hägglund and a sweet tooth for easy catchy pro-anthem melodies: (more…)

Airfields
Indie C86 oriented new generation music breathes on the kitch Canada too. The Airfields (the singer was born near an airport and there’s a clear reference to their sonic sounds) are running high on the skies of a rushed and energic shoegaze-driven guitar and space synth pop at the speed of sound. Not leaving behing a certain clever irony too, since they claim to bear “the pains of being a poncy rich kid at heart”, with a clear reference to another notorious indie band.

Two Good Sisters
The first time I met Johanna and Nina Piroth was during a DJSet. I was playing some music before and after their show. It was an honour. I gave up opening with my band for The Ruby Sun to be there that night. And I still consider myself lucky for that choice. I was delighted by the sweet and intimate show of the two sisters from Sweden, and I also had the chance to discover their marvellous debut cd. I was also surprisied talking with Johanna. I talked with her about a lot of swedish artists I put through the night on my selectin, and I was really surprised not only for her knowledge on the subject, but I expressed atonishmend when she said that she even played or organized event with thos artists. So young, so taleted and so much exerienced for their age! On the verge of their sophomore punk album, I had a few chat with my dear friends Piroth
