Summer Days Will Come
India is gonna be the final line for… indie music! Along nowelty like Astrolab (my dreampop-hereoes)and Jellybelly, here it is another great lamost on the sea of c86 revival: Sunny Summer Day. Just like the old Sarah Records Band. Dicky Hermansah, Teguh Indraputra, Deny gerdiana and Ajie are four guys from Bandung, west of Java (I always dreamt to say “West of Java” since I first read the “Travelling Wilburys Vol.1″ booklet).
The name of the band says it all: melodies are really happy and sunny, placid atmosphere, a cleaver use of the percussions despite of their straight and lo-fi sound. Their songs are collectable from some eps and compilations from Cloudberry and Letterbox, VollWert and Series Two Records.
Last 14th of February the band had the chance to play at “Let’s call and love Sarah”, a live tribute to Sarah Records. I was asked to join it with my band. Sadly enough Indonesia seemed a little bit out of reach on that month. What a shame!
