Let’s grow old together… and die at the same time
“I saw a friend that I once knew at a funeral. It took that time to be seen”
Editors (I’m talking ’bout the band) started their career as R.E.M. clones, but they soon got so popular with their unique and strong sound that other musicians started to look at their music like the perfect course to aim for success. There are many variations on that formula, and maybe “White Lies” tried to achieve that goal following the road of dark-wave. A good attitude on writing intense and intimate lyrics and a 80′s wave retro-taste can do the magic work, and tracks like “From The Stars” (in your car to the disco) mixing cheap keyboards to poor attempt to approach rondò and classical music and the manifesto “To Lose My Life” (in the disco to the dance floor) makes their first album “To Lose My life” (Fiction Records) a good record to spin your way to Saturday night.
The band supported “Snow Patrol” on their UK tour. The bizarre thing is that the band was born as “Fear of Flyin”, but took more than a year of pause looking for better material and inspirationfor their songs. New tracks were so darker and different that the band decided to chane the name itself, making of “Death” a hit before recording even a single.
If you’re not so young and you’re tired of your Talking Heads, Joy Division and Echoe and The Bunnyman, you can give this “quite danceable indie band” a try. Just cool off your arcade fire with a cold play.

I wonder if any of the members of White Lies have ever read Eric Jong, or they just picked that band name because they just had a genuine fear of flying? Idk, anyways.
They are going to be on the new Josh Schwartz/ Alex Patsavas show Rockville, CA (http://www.rockvilleca.com/), so I guess after their appearance you will see their songs for every single sad moment on TV, like when they can’t afford a Coldplay song or whatever.

A Musical Tsunami then! Eric Jong? The only solution is… ask them :)
Let’s see if they’re interested on an interview…
