Cashier No.9 = Cloud No.9
St. Paddy’s day was upon us quite literally and I felt that spreading my wings to Belfast for a musical affair would be quite fitting.
Cashier No.9 are frankly one of the sexiest artists to emerge from this gracious and radiant city. Danny Todd, James Smith, Stuart McGowan and Phillip Duffy link together to create a band that not only beams rays of genius but also fuses styles of music in a way that is so addictive it makes you want to keep listening. The beauty being you will never overdose.
‘When Jackie Shone’ has one of the most arousing openings I have heard in some time and even makes you want to prowl. Danny Todd’s vocals combined with a provocative guitar and an almost dance beat rhythm make your endorphins flow enough to make the smile on your face display signs of complete and utter satisfaction. It is a journey of power, it is as if some great being is standing over you and putting you in your place. You will listen to this track repeatedly until you realise that is your newfound drug.
Cashier No.9 have worked with great people namely long time hero of mind David Holmes. They are near completion of their debut album and with the help of Only Gone Records, a label run and created by Davy Matchett they are well on their way to becoming one of the most significant spawning of Northern Ireland.
Cashier No.9 take not only Country, Pop and Electronica but take your soul, your fire, your very being and catapult it to your 9th level, for me Cloud No. 9. I dare you not to want to embark on an affair with them because your body and mind will not forbid it. Their music will overtake emotion and force you to combine into one beatific ball of fire.
‘When Jackie Shone’ released April 13th 2009
