The Clever Are Back
The Clever Square are an amazing band to follow. Maybe it’s because it’s like being stuck on watching a magma flow or theĀ hypnotic spinning of the washing machine. And you got to take it while it’s on the run, since no proper album has been recorded, and everytime the kids are around you have to grab the chance to listen to their songs while being played live. Each show brings the fun to discover new set ups for their classics and hope to hear the presentations of new works. And so it was at RetroPop this time. One thing that really surprised me ’bout the most recent tunes is the strenght of some tracks leaving the indie attitude away giving you the impression to listen to real rock anthology classics. Each time Gec, Edo and Ste have a gig they pick a band as musical reference for the show. Nirvana, Pixies, Brigh Eyes. They seemed a little lost last night. But I would say “Bob Dylan” would be perfectly suitable for them. Even though it’s not a band Gec’s ballad on minor Lost characters facing their death got the mood.
