Mirah Sunshine
The first time I started listening to Mirah was back in the fist years of 2yk. Basically thanks to a friend of mine (ciao Roberta), Nick Hornby, Elliott Smith and a MARVELLOUS compilation from “S.H.A.D.O. Records” called “Ragazza Pop” (still one of the best original CD that I’ve got. It was really expansive for the times but it worth the money). Years passed. Mirah came back in Italy after 4 years at “La Casa 139“. First time in there for me. Such an enchanting place. I even met Mr. Brace from Tafuzzy Records in there, telling me that it’s 2 years he’s living in Milan right now. Mirah was followed by Tara Jane O’Neil (also from “K Records”) and a great lady drummer. Telling the truth Tara was more focused and carismatic than the real attraction of the night. The barefoot girl of “Telephone Wires” seemed a little far from the stage, silently watching Tara wide and starry eyes from a corner of a stage, with her innocent and wise smile linking classic after classic.
But that shiny smile left some place for knifes too. “I’m really surprised by all of you taking so maniy pictures. I’m not like Bono singin for Obama and needing special cameras pointed few inches from his head”
The moment of the show was when Mirah and Tarah (didn’t anyone noticed how cloes she resemble to Masha Qrella?) shared their little percussion to the audience for one cosmic final encore. Not such a bad night at all.
