Respect the cat
“Two years have passed since our first release. two years during which we listened to a lot of music, we fell in love with a lot of artists, we bought a lot of vinyls and cds; two years in which we imagined what we wanted our second release to be, and we worked hard to make it real.” (more…)

Laughing With Regina Spektor
With the recent release of her stunning new album, Far, it seemed apt to write about Regina Spektor, an artist who I have adored for years. I honestly cannot get enough of her, with her original blues voice and her catchy, theatrical songs. She is definitely one of my favourite singer/songwriters, and would easily come in my top ten of favourite overall artists. (more…)

Oh,No! Ho,Ney!
“These days I seem to think about / How all the changes came about my ways”
These days. What the fuck is happening to these days? All these stars falling from the scene, and this is not even the worst part of the tale. What hit people the most ’bout the death of MJ? Possibly the fact that it was totally unespected, like a death of Micky Mouse or Winnie The Pooh himself. I’ve just learned today that another dream falled apart from my personal skyline. That’s the death of MyHoney Record. (more…)

Do Puppets Dream of…
“Any time is a good time for guitars and feedback”. Our friend and editor Jamie Russel already introduced us to the dreamy world of “Sad Day For Puppets” on that review. For what is worth their new album reached 8/10 on the NME scale, so I tought it was really time for an interview. Here we are. (more…)

Watch The Tide
(Picture by courtesy of Adriano Zoppolato)
That’s it. It’s me reporting on our show. Tiny Tide having a party for “The WildHeart EP” launch at Diagonal. A release party as it was meant to be in the past. Cool friends, theme music, a lot of baloons, poster on the walls, nice food for everyone, wine and beer walking on a big terrace. I didn’e even wanted to play, but a friend of mine (Robbie from AirPop Djset duo) insisted so much that Tiny Tide had a little semi-acoustic presentation of the tracks from the EP in the middle of the event. A pure uninformal showcase.
The theme of the night was “The Smiths OR The Cure? Tiny Tide”, and AirPop found some marvellous covers from both worlds that deliced the guests along with other indie-brit-and-sweden pop pearls. “Tiny Tide” live show was no more than “The WIldHeart EP” played live in an unique energic way, in a compitely revised way instead of all the electronic stuff of their latest work. The band had the misfortune to present their EP the day The King of Pop died, so they payed a little tribute to Michael playing a bit of “Man in the mirror” before starting with the new “Yuriko has come to town”, already heard on Mark Zonda debut “Feel the blank” and now brought to new life in a very Blurrish version. As a singer of the band I didn’t expect people handclapping on our encore (“Girls from Ronta“)… still not even being called for a second one! (“The Psychopath At The Club“). Not being able of being objective I’ll leave the last words to the messaged I recieved on my cellphone:
“Your new glasses are sleeping off! It’s time for lens..”
“Do Mean It’s A Mess it’s almost Style Council. Bring out Paul Weller’s voice!”
“At the end of Ronta you should tooth-tear Dendrix guitar’s strings just like Bowie used to do with Ronson…”
“… That Berlucchi bottle made you look like you just won the Grand Prix!”

If Coke is a mystery, Michael Jackson… History
“They have taken our cola and cheated us!
I was ready to introduce yet another indie band froman obscure room wherever in the World. Then I heard it. MJ has died. What Michael Jackson meant to me and a couple of generations? A LOT! Forget the freaky looser hanging around nowadays from a gossip magazine to another like a bad copy of his own Italian zombie twin on Thriller video-clip. After his great jump to the top with The Jackson 5, his way for being crowned “The King of Pop” was nice and easy as ABC. (more…)

Fuck me, I’m twee
Right before Nirvana started to excite every kid in the planet with their dirt grungy sound, another American musical scene, originated basically by “The Softies” and “Beat Happenings”, was secretly building his elite snob niche for the future slightly bringing to life another movement. It was Twee. The US response to C86 movement. The eponimous anthem from Tullycraft was more than an anthem. It was a hit! (more…)

Beachcombers from the old Motown House beneath the sea
“When I talk with old friends the conversation turns to girls we knew when their hair was soft and long and the beach was the place to go…” ~Beach Boys
Just watch outside this window (mine, not yours) and having a look to this dark blu sky you wouldn’t dare to say it, but hey, just thinking for one moment that we are not on a terrific realistic fake copy of Lost Island getting nothing but random days from all the seasons of the year puzzled together and spinned round’n’round like in a roulet, her we go: it’s summer! Jagged Carnival Tours
First time I heard about Ariel Pink was because of a review on my first demos for Tiny Tide. Voice was yet unsure, and I really enjoy playing with all kind of filters and effects, such as echoes, reverbs, distortione and delays. There was also me trying to make first moves on trying to be my own sound editor, with very unconventional results. (more…)

A cruel world: Kate Jackson out of the Top 10 Indie Cuties
Not so long time ago (ok, actually… it was totally a lot!) I asked around for a miny survey on which indie frontgirl deserved to be on an ideal top 10 of the most cutie singers of the scene. With great disappointment of a friend of mine… Kate Jackson was not in it! Remember her? She was in a band called – mmm… what… – “The Long Blondes“, and we used to listen to their songs till blood filled up the dancefloor spreading out of our ears. Now: the big nothing. How does it take to get use to love a band, an artist or an album? (more…)
