A cruel world: Kate Jackson out of the Top 10 Indie Cuties
Not so long time ago (ok, actually… it was totally a lot!) I asked around for a miny survey on which indie frontgirl deserved to be on an ideal top 10 of the most cutie singers of the scene. With great disappointment of a friend of mine… Kate Jackson was not in it! Remember her? She was in a band called – mmm… what… – “The Long Blondes“, and we used to listen to their songs till blood filled up the dancefloor spreading out of our ears. Now: the big nothing. How does it take to get use to love a band, an artist or an album? And how soon we’re suppose to forget we ever just sing a line of their songs, or get excited in front of some frames of a YouTube clip? I don’t know if modern life is rubbish, but for sure nowadays it’s quite chip. At least for music. With all the pros and cons. Talking ’bout pros… which new garbage are you listening nowadays on this grey 2009 summer? I’ve been asked to show some new good pop music recently. Good or not… that’s what we’ve got :)
MIKA MIKO - Punk rock is alive and kicking. I didn’t knew this band from Los Angeles, and I do say that it a sweet nice surprise. I can feel the same energy of Ramones and Juliettes and the Whatevernows on this young kiddos, and tracks are really really nice! Post Present Underground Noise from The West Coast.
Mika Miko – “Turkey Barnyard Mix”

MXPX- They’re nothing more than the average pop rock corporate punk band, but they’ve came out with a quite enjoyable second album of cover. Wanna have the party started? Just press play on their version of “I Will Follow”, and rockawayroakaway. They will follow you!
***
NOUVELLE VAGUE – I bet many of you surely know this crazy cute france project revising the old New Wave pop niche classics on a bossa-indie style. I’ve been at one of their gigs some time ago, and it was one of the most unexpected energic show of my life. Another cover project with yet a complete different class. It worth a listen on your best sunday nap.
Nouvelle Vogue – “Wave Hallo, Say Goodbye”
***
THE DAYSLEEPERS - Tweegazer already talked about ‘em on SleepWalKing Mag, and I got myself get impressed to. Shoegaze and Dreampop are taken to a new level. Tired of living “undercover”? This band got something to say.
The DaySleepers – “Twilight of Bloom”
Time is running out as I’m goin to put my skulled-allstars and go to see Ariel Pink in Ferrara. I’ll leave you some time to explore and propose your recent summer listenings on the comments below. Cosmico!
