The Andersen Tapes
It’s a pleausure releasing this little interview the day “The Andersen Tapes” put a new song on TheirSpace. Each time this indie blond guitar pop band from Sweden give us a new song it’s just like being more connected to their secret distant world. “All you need to know” is that there’s a new surprise in sounds ready to delight your afternoon away. Said enough. Their “Turn to speak”.
Mark Zonda: The Andersen Tapes. How did you two decided to start a musical project, why Andersen and what does inspire you?
Amanda: The Andersen Tapes consists of me, Amanda. I have been making songs since I learnt how to play the guitar. When my previous band, Free Loan Investments didn’t have the time to be a band anymore I couldn’t stop making songs. I called my project the Andersen Tapes because I just liked the sound of it. My inspiration are a lot of great music that has already been done of course. I can get inspired from many different things.. different emotions, bird singing and if I read a book I like for example.
Mark Zonda: Which are your favourite indie bands right now?
Amanda: I love the Motifs, Liechtenstein and Cats on fire.
Mark Zonda: Which are your best memories with “Free Loan Investments”?
Amanda: I have some of my best memories being in F.L.I. Especially when we all went to the U.K and played some shows with the help from John at WIAIWYA. It was dreamy finding myself playing and hanging out with the people who’s music I had been a fan of for so long and I know the rest of then band felt the same. We had such a good time, unforgettable.
Mark Zonda: Which instruments would you like to add on your band?
Amanda: A steamy sax.. maybe? Or a choir.
Mark Zonda: How did you get noticed by Cloudberry Records?
Amanda: Someone tipped me off. I think Roque found me on myspace…
Mark Zonda: What’s your impression on the whole “Cloudberry Project”?
Amanda: Roque who runs it is such an inspiration, a true indiehero. I’m so happy that he’s around, you wouldn’t be asking me these questions if it weren’t for him… I just wish Bill Gates could find it in his heart and sponsor this important world-improvement that is Cloudberry Records.
Mark Zonda: Ever listened to any Italian indie pop?
Amanda: Sad to say, not so much. But I would love to get some ideas of where to start!
Mark Zonda: I guess MyHoney, Knifeville and Pippola Records are fine landing place.
