Losing my indietracks
“Well, that was just about the most perfect weekend of ever!” – Another Form of Relief.
… and I F*CKIN MISS IT! Yes it is! I lost the train! And not just the average train… the catchiest of it all! Yes man, betyourass ma’ams, I’m talking about INDIE TRACKS 2009. The great blues of the too-far-gone train is already strolling its sad nostalgic notes on everyone’s streaming playlists… while I didn’t even bought the ticket! Left alone on a meaningless August (the only alternative to rotating thumbs is boring myself to death waiting for a DJ birthday as a main attraction for my summer, gaving up to a ghostly American tour with my band as well), heading for September pale promises for musical entertainment, here I’m left with this editorial page waiting for YOU (YOU, and – don’t be shy – YOU) to tell me what really happened on the festival who grabbed the scepter of coolness to Emmaboda and Benecassim.
Some consistent reasons for having been in there? First of all: the location! Indietracks, planned by Elephant Records, takes place in the Derbyshire countryside, between train stations, farms… and even a church! What it made it so special this year, was the almost dream-alike line up! Still proud and eager to see the reaction of the Brit audience to the italians “Fitness Forever” and “Le Man Avec Les Lunettes” (two of my favourites), I also missed the chance to finally manage to see live “LA CASA AZUL“ (GUYS! I’M SO JEALOUS THAT I COULD EXPLODE IN FRONT OF ALMOST ANYBODY WHO WAS ACTUALLY IN THERE!).
Seems I’m also am a liar, at least promises don’t count when you’re very very dunk, since I didn’t came to see our friends SpeedMarket Avenue playing in there too! That was a great chance to miss an evergrabbingbeer Sibille smashing her stellar cymbal on the stage!
Wasn’t that enough? Do consider the living legends sharing the three stages on a perfect summer weekend as lovely as Au Revoir Simone, Butcher Boy, Camera Obscura, Cats On Fire, Art Brut, BMX Bandits, Eux Autres, Lucky Soul, The Manhattan Love Suicides, Nick Garrie (ARRGH!! I MISSED NICK GARRIE! WOULD YOU BELIEVE IT! I would be ready to cross the sea with my own harms just to see Nick Garrie playing!), Pocketbooks (see the comment before), The School, Stereo Total, Teenage Fanclub, Tender Trap. Did I mentioned everything? Am I forgotting something?
Ya bet! The legendary How Does It Feels To Be Loved traditional DJ Friday Night, once in a lifetime set away from Phoenix Bar or similia. And all the f*cking secret jams behind those mysterious indie tents. Just like that.
Did I missed something more? Comment, comment, comment… I’ll just watch you writing weeping on these songs…
Le man avec les lunettes – “Jonathan David”
Fitness Forever – “Albertone”
