Tinted Windows, Empty Walls
Oy! Don’t get me wrong! Nothing fails in Tinted Windows music! It’s actually quite catchy and very radiophonic indeed, with classic rock ballads, clean sounds and a sweet pitched voice on Def Leppard stlya and dummy drums on perpetual “My Sharona Mode” on. What makes the difference between this band and – pfff – Manic Street Preachers? First of all Manics has got a long and intense history at their back, while Tinted can’t even be excused of being a genuine new bunch of mates trying to lift up their life for the joy of playing music. These tinted blokes are nothing more than a superband formed by James Iha (The Smashing Pumpkins) singer Taylor Hanson (Mmmmm… Hanson), bassist Adam Schlesinger (Fountains of Wayne) and other minor guys from Cheap Trick. Tinted Windows, that is the “Justice League” from comic books’ hero relics.
Second things not really hard to understand. These sort of Superbestfriends do Tint Windows, but they also cut nails from tigers, while Manics send them away to scratch you alive with rough energy and smooth lyrics.
Tracks like “Take Me Back” are more bitchy than a desperate bird on the half of her third decade trying to bring you home after a bad date trying to persuade you that she’s not that bad after all if you’ll give her some chances… (“Don’t wanna waste your time / baby I can change your mind / if fuck can just get throguh… oh sorry… if I can…”). “Nothing To Me” would be good. In the 60′s. Byrdys guitars and Beatlesque vocals on a nice melody with a perfect Who actitude. But it means nothing to me.
“We Got Something”? Who. No Huston. Maybe the league it’s really that big deal, and the kids are allrights and the Twit Windows just need to exit and go for a reboot. Power-Pop loose it all to Pauper-Pop. This band needs an hand. Maybe it’s time for a change
