Which Elvis Costello Album Would You Pick After Having Read This Review?
We already talked about Boston Spaceships on THIS post. But how can a single review can be enough when its incarnation, the ex leader of Guided by Voices not only continues to bake flaming masterpieces one year at the time, so hungry indeed for new songs that only in 2009 – 52 years old – has recorded “The Planets Are Blasted” and “Zero to 99″ with Boston Spaceships, “Gringo” with Circus Devils and the solo “The Crawling Distance”… (more…)

New Songs From Uncle Bob
Simple, poor and direct. These day’s I’m stuck like an idiot on Boston Spaceships‘ “Winston’s Atomic Bird”. You can’t avoid yourself being mesmerized by this totally naive collage, clearly a Yellow Submarine rip off in pure “South Park” style, leaving yourself wondering what’s the most displacing element within that addicting stuff, whether you’re surprise not seeing teenagers reprising 70’s rock tunes or if it’s odd having these ol’ gents trying to be indie at their best. Weegie Charlotte
- I think I’ll sing all “SUMMER” long…
- “BEHAVE”!
I know I should never discourage young bands with tough critics and hard words. That’s why – being free to chose – I’d prefer fast forwarding on the first band who opened for Charlotte Hatherley at Glaswegian prestigious “King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut” club pausing on the second guest band: the Weegies “Futuristic Retro Champions”.

Independent Musicians’ Tips: #2 – Get it Out There
Welcome to the latest installment in this on-going series: Independent Musicians’ Tips!
Tip #2 – Get it Out There: Upload and Tag Everything on Last.fm
Tip #1 – Establish Yourself Online had to do with setting up a website and social-networking profiles for your material. This is an area that you, and/or who’s in charge of managing your sites, will want to continue to improve (adding widgets, adding contacts, occasionally changing up the layout, adding songs, keeping news updated, and so on).

The Club. Its golden age.
“I know everyone’s trying to sell you the illusion that keeps them in Hell. / I’m stuck in my confusion, but I’m sure that you’ll go far.”
Guess it’s never too late to find the time to listen to good music. In the wide ocean of sounds loose free after Napster broke the dam, I never got the chance to listen to the Californian “American Music Club”. Quite interesting and puzzling name. Why not “Free Okinawa Animal Society” or “The Wise Electric Dispender Group”. (more…)

Smitten by the split!
Following the brilliant green of twee-pop music path, The Smittens are slowly becoming one of the most lovable influential twee bands of America, walking unafraid, smile and shiny badges, on the same path of Tullycraft and Tiger Trap. (more…)

ODIO (That’s what we love)
Last night – while playing with Tiny Tide – I introduced the song “Tiny Trains” as “a trip on the train of HATE”. Is HATE the feeling becoming stronger than Love? We need something strong to cause a reaction, and frequently a good slap in the face can do the trick more efficiently than a smooth caress. Angry, wild, untamed. These are the kind of feelings aiming “The Kiara Elles” debut along with their “ODIO Ep”. (more…)

A lot of Tidin’ to do
It was promoted as a secret gig, still eventually many people were able to find the place despite all the enigmas. Halfway between Aladdin Sane, Elvis Costello and MGMT, Mark Zonda and Tiny Tide came back with a tight and not so horror rocky show on the stage of Intifada, sharing with the audience the old classics from a debut album that keeps its distances from seeing the light of its debut and the tracks of Tiny Tide last EP: “The Wildheart EP”. Humbug!
Humbug, the third album from Sheffield band Arctic Monkeys takes a step away from tales of a “Lad’s night out” set to a tune of indie rock (although this is something that they were undeniably masters of).

Miserable Rich
Indie pop is definetly out of any business. It’s not a rewarding mission, is a blind lip into faith. That’s why everyone of us (I’m talking to YOU, songrabber!) should be thankful to our fellow musicians and bow down to their art, expecially when it’s soulful and cleaver. Lads & Gents come nearer and get to know one of these rogue little modern time prophet and storyteller: James de Malplaquet from “The Miserable Rich”. (more…)
