A lot of Tidin’ to do
It was promoted as a secret gig, still eventually many people were able to find the place despite all the enigmas. Halfway between Aladdin Sane, Elvis Costello and MGMT, Mark Zonda and Tiny Tide came back with a tight and not so horror rocky show on the stage of Intifada, sharing with the audience the old classics from a debut album that keeps its distances from seeing the light of its debut and the tracks of Tiny Tide last EP: “The Wildheart EP”.
The band kept spending the last month on practicing the new opening part of the show, with a brilliant instrumental introduction in a bright “Credence Clearwater Revival” style, changing in “Kitty Jesus” and “The Psychopath At The Club” with no pauses at all.
“We’re Tiny Tide. We’re a U2 Cover band. Still we’ll now proceed with a song dedicated to two rather unknown bands”. The glorious “The Smiths & The cure”.
The electro oriented part of the show sees Mark leaving the acoustic guitar for it’s Alesis Micron Synth. “Scrambled Eggs”, “S♥L”, and the tribute to Apples in Stereo “Joanie don’t u worrie”.
“That’s the part of the show where I’ll take you down for a ride on a train”, says Mark, “But it’s not the train of love. It’s the train of… HATE. FUCK YOU EVERYONE!”. Audience laughs as the band starts performing “Tiny Trains”.
“I would say” has a wrong start, but the band doesn’t take too much to find its balance and take over. Dendrix plays out his solos sitting in an angle of the stage with its brand new guitar as if it was some kind of sitar. The most theatrical part of the show is give to “Needful Things”, inspired by the book from Stephen King, when Mark Zonda get rid of guitars and glasses.
The show ends with “Girls from Ronta”. The song never seems to stop reprise after reprise, and before entering an infinite loop Mark takes his guitar and try to stop Mic Leffe from playing keep on crashing it on its cymbals.
It was a nice night, people seemed to had its fun. The only disappointment left was Manuel not playing the violin and the arrival of the Police, who came by the place only hours after Tiny Tide show was already over. Let’s see if they’ll be able to play toghether next time.
