Fiery Furnacy still burning!
I didn’t know what to expect from Fiery Furnacy live show at Covo Club last night. Their album are quite experimental, and I’d probably would have been disappointed if the two brothers from Illinois would have shown up on the stage with some kind of beat-box or pre-recorded stuff with the exact replica of what I can still hear in any situation just putting their music through. What kind of furnacy can burn without providing you real hot lava? So happy their 4 members line up was really fiery providing a good and restless rock show with a never ending boiling blending stream of their songs with unexpected cleaver tempo variations, brilliant escapades on dodecaphonic solos with Matthew Friedberger‘s guitar meeting on the lower arpeggios the highest pitches of the bass, a lovable and restless Eleanor Friedberger leading the band, a classy fan-tamer finding the right balance on the fine line between the stage and the hall, bringing her heart to the audience not letting a fan even trying to steal it.
The band unwilling to leave the stage, and the fan totally agreed. The final act was Eleanor giving drums a try with Matt on vocals. They had their fun. Eleanor moves on the drums was quite uncertain, still no one expect the DJ would have stopped them from bringin another couple of songs on. Nothing to share with The Carpenters, still so much better than White Stripes. It was a good hot and enjoyable show. Hurray for the Furnacy.
