Gypsy Punks: Underdog World Strike
The NYC Band, Gogol Bordello, consisting of nearly a dozen members hailing from places ranging from The Ukraine, Ethiopia, Japan, Israel and USA, offers more then just a earful. It’s a full immersion experience taking your ears places you never imagined they’d go.
And simply put, their album, Gypsy Punks: Underdog World Strike, is a proverbial Eastern European themed Alice in Wonderland. If you dare to follow the accordion wielding white rabbit down his hole you’ll catch glimpses of the vague female figure Sally, take a stroll down Avenue B and sit privy to a wedding like no wedding you’ve ever witnessed.
In addition, if your mind survives the initial audio orgasm of spiraling violin breakdowns, thumping bass, otherworldly accordion riffs and raucous vocals, you’ll walk away knowing that everyone is going to go crazy one day, and what better day than today? Enjoy the adventure!
And who knows, along the way you may even brush up on your Spanish, Ukrainian or Patwa.
