Say Watt
Seems like Mike Watt is somewhat some kind of a mysterious niche legend. Also known as “The man in the van with the bass in his hand” this crazy talented guy from Portsmouth brought us through a musical trip from punk to alt-rock through progressive music on the stage of Officina49. Just in one night! The Minutemen, Ciccone Youth, J Mascis and the Fog, The Stooges and Porno for Pyros are just few of the band that had the pleasure to play with that crazy guy at a certain time of their career. Not it’s the time of Stefano Pilia (Massimo Volume) and Andrea Belfi (Rosolina Mar), sharing the stage on Mike’s “Il sogno del Marinaio” tour. What amazed me the most about Mike? That managed to get in shape and be such a ace bass player evene after his health forced him to stay away from his instrument. Really. Mike was AMAZING last night, just hypnotizing the audience with his perception of music blended with an astonishing technique.
Here’s some pics and clips from that night.
