St. Stephen Bells
Just the very day after Christmas, Bronson owner decided to make us a little gift with a great double feature: a live show with Gjea & The Holy Ghost and The Clever Square. Two bands are connected, just like some American bands collective, having members of the two teams coming and going from one line up flowing into the other. If Giacomo is the man in charge of The Clever Square Edoardo is the masterhead behind Gjea & The Holy Ghost, that is moving its first big steps on its live version after some years of strange noises and experimentations, thanks to a new drummer and another bass-guitar-banjo player. In few words the band got legs now, Edoardo voice has improved a lot and the blokes are now able to show their audience a more refined and enjoyable pop-rock with noise and technique always on their mind. Lights, a good tech support from ampli and stuff and the love of the singer for Neil Young, gave us the feeling that Gjea & The Holy Ghost ispossibly the most americanized teen band now playing in Italy.
As for the The Clever Square it was good to see a broad selection of new songs and appreciate the good balance between the two founders and the new drummer. Like the previews band, seems they’ve been playing together for months, and they must call it a real success. With Stefano getting confident with his new electric bass and a live version of “Happy Chistmas (I hope you die)” all turned out great. We couldn’t complain at all.
