Redwing Blackbird gonna play some songs…
Amid the daily howl of audio distortion, mental confusion and fuzzy guitar jams it’s amazingly refreshing to hear beautiful music which invites you to pause for a moment and remember what it feels like to be human. Eric Gagne, Austin Wright, Christine Hayward and Jeffrey Murphy offer just this invitation in Redwing Blackbird’s sophomore album titled That River Skinned A Bear.
In these days of Mayan calendars, global warming, ipods and mp3’s, an album like, That River Skinned A Bear, is exactly the positive light at the end the tunnel that is so desperately needed and sadly, so few and far between. Conservative use of percussion and a penchant for soft guitar and vocals, gives this album a distinct and very enjoyable sound. Consisting of 13 songs of pure organic earthy bliss, That River Skinned A Bear, is somehow both warmly and comfortingly nostalgic, reminiscent of “the good ole days” when music was a celebration, and excitingly different from much of the music commercially available today. I strongly recommend that you check out Redwing Blackbird, either on their Myspace, Facebook or on itunes.
