Sylvia Paradiso neo italo beat
In case you just didn’t know, there’s a whole new mania started on the internet called “Neo Italo Movement”. So many fresh new band are emerging poppin’ out from all around the world, sharing songs inspired by the old ’80s Italo Disco wave that will converge in a future compilation called “Neo Italo Vol.1″. One of the most notable artists from the club is the fashionable chanteuse Sylvia Paradiso, also known for having starred on many independent magazines and obscure underground niche films, soon become a cult. I had the chance to have a talk with her.
Mark Zonda: Dear Sylvia, introduce yourself to our SleepWalKing readers…
Sylvia: I’m a singer, and a fashion model, and a party girl, really. I always felt I wanted to do something more than just model, even though I love fashion, so when my wonderful producer, Tony, called me up and said he wanted to make a record with me, I was so happy. I love to sing!
Mark Zonda: What do you think about Italo Disco, and how it came that you decided to take part to the Neo Italo Disco Movement?
Sylvia: Italo disco, well it’s just amazing pop music to me. Music for dancing the whole night away to, fun and sexy. It’s just wonderful music.
Mark Zonda: As a model, which are your favorite brands? And is it true that Tony is going to release some songs on his own?
Sylvia: I’m an 80s girl at heart, I have to admit: I love Alaïa. And YSL. Yes, in fact, the rumours are true: Tony will release his own material. He’s got some great songs, and a wonderful singing voice, a bit like Thomas Anders, in fact.
Mark Zonda: How did your love for pop began?
Sylvia: When I was very young, my boyfriend at the time, a very sweet French boy, introduced me to so much wonderful pop music. It really opened my eyes for how amazing this music is.
Mark Zonda: Do you enjoy being an idol?
Sylvia: I love being a pop star! It’s the perfect way of life. I wake up at eight or nine, I have a cappuccino – extra froth – and then my day is filled with fun things like going to the hairdresser, getting my picture taken… and it opens so many doors! I get to know so many wonderful people: actors, directors, fashion designers…
Mark Zonda: Ever met any V.I.P. by the hairdresser?
Sylvia: I’ve got a brilliant hairdresser, he’s the hairdresser for so many models and actresses, oh, I always run into someone there. He only takes on clients he chooses himself, so I was so happy when I was sent his card and the note: “G. wants to have a word about hair.” That’s his name, G, he just works under that name.
Mark Zonda: What’s your relationship with fandom? Do you recieve many love letters?
Sylvia: Oh, I do! I get many love letters actually, most are very sweet. Boys send me things, too: flowers, chocolates, even lingerie, would you imagine.
Mark Zonda: Did any of these guys managed to hang out with you?
Sylvia: That’s my little secret, haha!
