Negative Creep from Piandispino Republic
Once upon a time there was a band from Italy called Tiny Tide that tried to place its hit with a song called “Girls from Ronta”. The pop song dealt with a boy in love with a girl living in a small town nearby another very tiny little town, located in the Romagna area. Although many requests (two) were addressed to the band to record a second part of the song called “The boy from Panighina”, the band was so lazy busy on recording new stuff that let another band from Romagna steal this idea. That’s why we have Piandispino’s boys releasing a new album, sang in Italian, called “Oggi non accade nulla”, with a gong called “Il ragazzo di Piandispino” (The boy from Piandispino). The blokes are called “Negative Creep“ (just like the song from Nirvana), and they made a whole album from what Tiny Tide tried to express in a single song: find out what’s catchy and pop in a tiny town everyday routine and life. And that’s great! Basically becauseNegative Creep sounds a whole lot better (Cake meets Luna Pop) and basically because along with the old school Il Cantiere… now we have a scene! (We only have to wait from bands being so brave to sing in Romagnolo being assurged as the new Super Furry Animals)
The band portrayed their new album on Lego Club, the Italian Mecca for indie fanatics, with a lot of energy and some interesting covers (“Ma che colpa abbiamo noi” by Rokes, Ramones and Art Brut with Italian lyrics, just like “Tre Allegri Ragazzi Morti” did some time ago).
Here they are with some clips and pics from their live at Lego:
