All you need is Love is all
It’s no mystery. “Love is all“ it’s one of the most beloved indie bands of the indie gang. One of the first friends to told me about’em was Paolo from MyHoney Records (RIP, RIP), keep on telling us how energetic that band was after he saw’em live on a showcase in New York City. After having seen Josephine on a Still Flyin’ gig it was inevitable an interview with the band. Here we are with Markus Görsch.
Mark Zonda: We all know that Josephine Olausson is pure pop genius. Still how the band formed. And when Jo started to sing and composing songs?
Markus: The band formed right after we stopped playing with our old band GIRLFRENDO, which was Josephine, Nicholaus, myself and some other guys who were not in Love is all.
Mark Zonda: How did you make it? What was the most important moment in the story of your band, the instant where it was so clear that you made the difference? Was it a particular show, a song broadcasted in the radio, a contract with a big company or what?
Markus: I think when Fredrik came to record some sax on a song and we realized he should join the band… that is when the line up was complete!
Mark Zonda: One of the most bizarre moments in my entire life was when I was in a very strange kind of restaurant, in an obscure Italian village near the Adriatic Coast, attending the show of the american collective “Still Flyin’”. And I couldn’t stop wondering: what the hell is Josephine Olausson doin’ in the crowd!?!
Markus: We are very good friends with Still Flyin’… and we have all played with them at times… I played the bongos with them on a tour a few years ago for instance. they are awesome party people!
Mark Zonda: Did you enjoy shooting a video in Ravenna on the beach? I think that that clip and Josephine with a band aid on the nose really sums up a moment of the band. Great energy, great feeling. Can you recap what happened with that door the night before?
Markus: We had played in Zürich the night before, and it was a pretty wild night. The next morning Josephine was in a hurry up or down the stairs as we were all in a hurry to get down to Italy. It was a very sad morning cause Josephine was in pain but also because we were all very tired and hung over. It was much better the next day, hanging out in Ravenna and having fun on the beach.
Mark Zonda: First time I heard of you was because of a friend of mine from a label keep on telling us from his weekly radio show how great your pefromance in NY City was. How you’re supposed to be such an unforgettable experience to be experienced?
Markus: I don’t know… We do try very hard to keep the energy high! I believe that you have to put energy into the performance in order to get energy back from the audience… and then it kind of works as a positive perpetuum mobile… until the songs are over!
