Brandon Flowers goes Flamingos
We have previously heard snippets of Brandon Flowers’ musings on life in Las Vegas (particularly on The Killers’ Sam’s Town album) but the idea is fully developed here in Flamingo. The juxtaposition of dramatic, optimistic sounds and cynical lyrics on first track Welcome To Fabulous Las Vegas reflects Flowers’ love affair with the city. (more…)

Join the cue fanfare
Once upon a time – not so long ago telling the truth – I had the fortune to find out a cool band from Bristol called Santa Dog. Useless to say, their refined perfect retro pop songs with hints of Cardigans, Smiths, Long Bondes, Prefab Sprout and Elvis Costello, cool Rob Williams guitars and the unique warm voice of Rowena Dugdale, were the perfect chemistry to tie me and my friends to their tunes. Windsor for the derby
If post rock has to be the answer, my question should be: what’s next? Possibly Windsor for the Derby! Texas must be the right place for cool bands to meet up and play, since so many excellent bands find the perfect ground to take off from there. (more…)

I’m so Happy
I already had the pleasure to interview Charley Rivel from The Mare on this post, and I was very delighted by his collaboration to the U.N.DISCO project having Charley moonlighting under the disco name of The Vigint Mille Lieues Sous Les Mers. Charley and The Mare are back with their first work for “Leopard Up A Tree Records”, that were so kind not only to send me a copy of their EP with some brilliant Swedish coloured stamps but to quote my enthusiastic comment on The Mare single on their site.ì (more…)

So why is music so important?
Hello Sleepers! It’s been a while but I’m hopefully going to get back into the swing of things and help Mark out again. This article is more of a train of thought than anything, but something I think is a viable question to ask, and I’d be interested to see whether something interactive would take off on here. See, that’s the beauty of an online magazine: instant feedback. (more…)

What’s What I Call Anthony NOW
By professing that Anthony Rochester is a fucking pop genius I guess that not a listener would argue. I was literally blown away by his past work “Music For In The Spaceship”, resembling to me quite an Australian male response to early Cardigans – that meant a lot to me. (more…)

The Brigadier At Work
We already told you about The Brigadier, from UK. What to say about the man behind that project? Matthew Williams is simply the best kept living pop secret in the world, and the real mystery on his music is not due to his real persona hidden behind a room in Albion but how such a talented music genius is not meant to rule the chart. (more…)

Jules Not Jude: The Dark Side Of The Apple
Jules Not Judes is a band from Brescia, Italy, clearly in love with The Beatles. You can tell not only but the band name but from the title of these blokes debut album: “All apples are red, except for those which are not red”. We already had the chance to appreciate the band as a duo with the nice EP “Cloud of Fish”, and the work was so nice everyone in here awaited the first long playing with great expectation. (more…)
